Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on Sunday after the team's 10-match without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the club - are among the names to be considered by the club ownership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton head coach - who made over a century of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a leading candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they begin the search of hiring a new head coach.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising appointment given he was released by Wolves in December last year.
