On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard communication data and evidence obtained from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently asking Madeleine's mother for a DNA test throughout that period.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most widely reported missing child cases and continues to be open.

'I Do Not Need Money'

One recorded message, played in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm fat and unattractive like Madeleine was, but I believe what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I am she? What then? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I do not need money, I possess a life here in Poland, I just want to discover," the recording stated.

The tribunal was informed that by means of electronic messages, text messages and calls, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, transmitted childhood photos to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a early life with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who gathered the information, told the court there "didn't appear to be any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally contacted close associates of the McCanns, according to the call data.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt left a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording stating "I will persist and I plan to establish my claim."

On the occasion of the trip to their home, the defendant dispatched a communication which stated: "We find ourselves sitting outside the McCanns' residence with our headlights off like investigators. I wanted to accomplish this with another person I hadn't anticipated I would be doing that with the McCanns."
